Passport to the Mountain

Passport to the Mountain, our orientation session for new South Mountain Community College students, is coming up the week of August 13.

This three-hour session will begin with a presentation in the SMCC Performance Hall, and will include tours of the college and information about:

  • Student Services, Academic Coaching and Financial Literacy

  • Student Clubs, Organizations and Student Governance

  • Understanding and Using Your Personal Strengths

  • How to Use the South Mountain Community Library and Learning Resource Center

In addition, several lucky students will win partial SMCC scholarships of up to $250.

Four Passport to the Mountain sessions have been scheduled:

  • Monday, August 13, 2012
    5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
    Class Number: 43457

  • Wednesday, August 15, 2012
    9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
    Class Number: 43458

  • Thursday, August 16, 2012
    5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
    Class Number: 18611

  • Saturday, August 18, 2012
    10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
    Class Number: 18663

Incoming students need to register for Passport to the Mountain, just as they would any college class. (The classes can be found here, using the three letter code “NSO.”)
This can be done in three ways:

By visiting http://my.maricopa.edu and enrolling online in one of the four classes listed above (be sure to reference the five digit class number)

Chat online with one of our academic advisors using iChat.

Visit or call the Advisement Office (602.243.8330) at the SMCC Main Campus at 7050 S. 24th Street and an academic advisor will assist you.

“Passport to the Mountain” is required for all incoming SMCC students new to college.
