Financial Aid/Scholarship Checks
All Checks are mailed directly to the student at the address established with Registration and Records, unless requested for pick up by the student, each semester. Checks are not forwarded by the US Post Office. If you have moved and not notified the school, your check will be returned to us after a delayed period of time.
NOTE: The amount of cash the student is to receive is determined after the financial obligations to South Mountain Community College are deducted. Balance of funds due to the students are typically released two weeks after the start of the semester provided the following criteria are met
- Financial Aid has awarded you and the funds are available.
- Stafford Loans entrance interview has been completed.
- The minimum credit hours required by the Financial Aid Office begin within 10 days of the release of the check. Classes that begin later in the semester will delay the release date.
- Consortium hours have been verified and meet the same start date requirements.
- All debts to the MCCCD District have been cleared. Release dates will be delayed if you have a debt with any MCCCD college.
NOTE: Your Financial Aid / Scholarship money will be applied to your tuition and fees first. Any unpaid portion is the responsibility of the student.
