The Computer Commons staff strives to make your learning experience in the Commons fulfilling and worthwhile. We are here to serve you in order for you to succeed in your academic endeavors.
Periodic disruptions in the Commons can occur and hamper learning. Part of our mission is to prevent or minimize disruptions overall, but we cannot successfully do so without your help. If any of the following occur, please let us know:
- Threatening staff verbally or physically
- Being disruptive to others
- Inappropriate behavior
- Failing to adhere to staff’s requests
- Sending, printing, requesting, displaying, or storing fraudulent, harassing, sexual or sexually explicit, racial, obscene or otherwise offensive messages, images, and/or audio files
- Attempting to circumvent or subvert any system security measures or decoding passwords
- Breaking into another user's electronic mail account; sending forged electronic mail and obtaining, possessing, using, or attempting to use passwords or other information to intimidate or harass other users; sending chain messages or promotional mail without the consent of the destination host
- Deliberately attempting to damage or disrupt computing communications systems on the network
- Failing to comply with civil and community standards of computing communication etiquette
- Installing personal software and/or hardware without authorization from staff
- Introducing computer viruses or other disruptive and destructive programs into SMCC's network system or any computing media
- Reconfiguring, altering, or repairing/ troubleshooting any computing hardware device without authorization from staff
- Withholding information of those who violate any of the above
We hope that these violations are kept to a minimum or none at all. With your help, we can make everyone's learning experience a successful one.
