The GED test is for individuals who do not have a high school diploma and are seeking to earn a high school equivalency diploma. GED candidates may not be enrolled in high school or have not earned a high school diploma.
Requirements to take the GED test are as follows:
- Candidates will need to present two forms of identification. A current picture ID (i.e. driver's license, State ID, etc.) is required and a birth certificate or a social security card.
- Candidates must be at least 16 years of age. Individuals who are 16 or 17 years of age must also bring a notarized consent letter from a parent or legal guardian giving the student permission to take the GED and an official letter of withdrawal from the last elementary/secondary school that he or she attended, certifying that the applicant has officially withdrawn from school.
There is a $50.00 fee for GED test and a $10.00 retest fee for each subject area. Effective January 1, 2007, there will be an additional $15.00 Arizona State Fee. Total cost for testing is $65.00.

Note: GED testing is by appointment only. Pre-registration is required prior to testing.
Pre-reistration consists of the candidate presenting his/her required identification, paying all applicable fees, filling out demographics form, registration card and making an appointment. The GED pre-registration process takes approximately 45 minutes.
