Student Governance
The Student Leadership Board strives to promote and provide programs, services, and events for the students and staff of South Mountain Community College.

Associated Student Life and Leadership Board
Members organize and promote programs, activities and services that meet the needs and interests of the students.
Amigos Latinos (ESL)
Provides cultural, social and educational awareness among English as a Second Language (ESL) students by working with school organizations and the community.
Athletic Club
Builds camaraderie among athletes involved in any sports offered, between athletes and the student body, and between athletes and the community.
Behavioral Health Services (BHS)
To promote a network of Behavioral Health Services students with information and knowledge in achieving an Associates Degree, plus assist in the work force for Behavioral Health field. Also to participate in school sponsored activities and volunteer opportunities.
Bilingual Student Nursing Association (BSNA)
Develops leaders in the nursing program, provides networking with health professionals and institutions, and fosters success of all nursing students. BSNA is dedicated to developing cultural awareness, networking in the community, and utilizing the Spanish and English languages to contribute to underprivileged communities by promoting health care services.
Black Student Union (BSU)
BSU seeks out the best solutions for the times in which we live and maintains a level of cultural pride and awareness for African-American students.
Christian Club
Provides activities for students including fellowship, Bible study, discussion, social life opportunities, witness and ministry.
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS)
Supports discussions of LDS topics and fun social activities.
Members help Native-American Indian students reach their educational goals, develop leadership skills and promote cultural awareness by fostering relationships among clubs, campuses, MCCCD and the college community.
Exceder
Translation: (To Exceed Boundaries)
Contribute cultural diversity and reflect pride in our heritage through leadership, social and community involvement throughout our college experience.
Future Educators of Americans (FEA)
Supports future educators and provides study/support groups. Also, the organization recruits and unifies future and present educators involved within the community and school.
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Straight Union Club (GLBSU)
Supports members of the gay, bisexual, lesbian, transgender and questioning community, along with their friends, family members, and straight allies. Mission is to create a place where individual values and beliefs are welcome and respected. Membership is open to students of any sexual orientation.
MEChA
Installs in Chicano students a sense of pride and awareness of their heritage and culture. Also provides counseling and tutoring whenever possible.
The Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources Related Science (MANRRS) includes minorities and non-minority students interested in agriculture, chemistry and biology or related sciences, including behavioral sciences like psychology, philosophy and sociology.
Assures that academic excellence among students is nurtured and a climate of continuing education is maintained. Alpha Eta Delta Chapter coordinates scholarship and service programs based on annual themes, leadership, fellowship; travel opportunities available to active members.
Promotes a sense of community among students interested in engineering at SMCC by providing opportunities to interact with others of similar interests. This club is affiliated with the national SHPE organization and many of the club members attend regional and national SHPE conferences. It is open to students of all ethnic backgrounds.
Spirit Club
Supports the school with high standards, create school spirit, pride, and give support to the SMCC student body and community.
Promotes theatre on the South Mountain Community College campus and in the community. Also, creates an environment in which students can explore opportunities in theatre. Membership is open to any student enrolled at SMCC interested in theatre.
STEP Club
The purpose of the STEP Club is to promote and encourage student leadership and community involvement by providing a strong academic support system through the TRIO Programs. The goal is to increase graduation and transfer rates from South Mountain Community College to the four-year universities. In addition, the club generates campus awareness on TRIO programs and fundraises for future scholarships to benefit TRIO participants. Membership is open to current TRIO-STEP participants.
Young Latinos Associated (YLA)
Supports students to increase involvement in the community, college campus, and outside of campus. Working together with other performance organizations in creating social activities.
