Module Goal
Students will apply the skills learned while completing these activities to their everyday lives. One of the innovative ways to help students experience the results of solving a problem is by “looking for pattern”. Students will develop the ability to identify patterns in this module.
Module Overview and Description
This module builds equity among under-represented mathematics students by using critical thinking and inductive and deductive reasoning.
My activities cover 4 areas:
- Physics-Distance, time and rate
- Construction-Geometrical figures
- Biology-Blood Types
- Nursing-IV versus time
After completing these activities, your students can:
- Apply mathematical thinking to other disciplines
- Be active and pro-active learners
- Increase and improve their skills for critical thinking and/or decision making
- Use many types of technologies that can deepen students’ mathematical learning and prepare them for the workforce
- Align with Beyond Crossroads Basic Principles AMATYC p.10-11
Module Needs Analysis
This module is needed because the majority students struggle to master inductive and deductive reasoning problem-solving.
